I was born and raised in South Africa, but now live in California with my wonderful wife Ronél and our three sons, Nicolas, Conrad and Dewald.
I’m fortunate enough to work at the best animation studio in the world – Pixar. My latest film credit is for technical development on Brave, and this photograph of me is from the wrap party near Calistoga.
I graduated in 1996 from The Ohio State University with a PhD in Computer Graphics. After graduation, we returned to South Africa where I worked at the Satellite Applications Centre for 5.5 years before coming back to the USA to live my dream – creating animated feature films for a living!

Hello.Mr Scheepers, i was wondering if you could mail me,if it is allowed(if any), course notes or even a sketch you did on a system called “atmos” …i looked in graphics.pixar but i could not see it.i recall it being referenced in another paper on “Ocean Mission on Cars 2″and i wanted to learn a bit more on dealing with participating media in visual effects. Thank you.

Ons het vanaand op SABC TV ‘Finding Dory’ gekyk en toe sien ek jou naam aan die einde van die film in die “credits” – ek kyk altyd of ek n Afrikaanse naam kan sien, en sowaar, meer Afrikaans kon daar nie wees nie!
Baie geluk met jou sukses in die internasionale arena! Maak mens trots om te sien hoe Afrikaners hul merk maak op die wereld se silwerdoek!
